(3/5) Previous Next SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A motorcycle rider was critically injured in a collision in Springfield's Indian Orchard section Monday night. Springfield Police Lt. Brian Keenan told 22News that the accident was being investigated as a fatality, and the victim is a man. The Springfield Police Accident reconstruction team has been investigating the crash at the intersection of Myrtle and Worcester Streets since just after 5 o'clock Monday night.

The cause of the accident is under investigation however, police say it appears to be an accident. Friends say Gaudet was an avid motorcyclist. Motorcycle accident claims life of a veteran on Veterans Day

a motorcycle ridden by Gary Laferty, 43, of Willits crashed into the woods at the corner of Poppy Drive and Madrone Drive. Firefighters from Brooktrails Fire Department and Little Lake Fire Department responded to the scene. Little Lake responded because the original 9-1-1 call described the location as near the Willits airport. Firefighters located the accident scene and assisted the victim while a REACH air ambulance landed nearby. REACH and ambulance personnel attempted to stabilize the victim at the scene, according to fire reports. Laferty was transported to the closest medical facility, Frank R. Howard Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A crash report from the California Highway Patrol was not available as of press time.

A motorcycle accident around 4:30 p.m. Saturday on the Anthony New Mexico gap by Highway 404 sent one man to University Medical Center. The full extent of his injuries are unknown, according to the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office, but he is said to have facial bruising and was bleeding. A spokesperson told KFOX 14 the motorcyclist lost control of his motorcycle and was then thrown from the bike. Law enforcement took about an hour to find him. The motorcyclists was going about 60 mph when he crashed.

402nd FA gains Motorcycle Accident Scene Management Course/Certification

At the completion of the course, Bowen, who is a motorcyclist, left the students, instructors and other riders with a few words lessons from his experience on the road. As riders, we can continue to learn, continue to get better, and by taking the Accident Scene Management Course we can continue to bridge and cover some of the gaps caused by accidents until proper medical help arrives, said Bowen. By taking the Accident Scene Management Course, we were able to have members of the 402nd certified upon completion of the course as instructors that will have the ability to train Soldiers in Accident Scene Management. I learned a lot from the Accident Scene Management course, said Bowen. The Accident Scene Management Course is a nationally recognized course can be beneficial to anyone involved in an accident. Graduates of the course will be able to respond and provide aid at any accident scene.
