Tags: Report a typo WAKE COUNTY (WTVD) -- Authorities in Wake County are investigating a motorcycle chase that ended with a crash in Zebulon overnight. The chase started around 1:30 a.m. when authorities said a deputy attempted to stop the motorcycle on Riley Hill Road. They said the driver sped off, then took a curve too fast, ran off the road between Jack Mitchell and Chad roads and crashed his bike in a wooded area. The unidentified driver was rushed to the hospital in unknown condition. Authorities are still investigating the incident and have not released any other details. Captain Jimmy Stevens says they had an early-morning chase with a motorcycle.

Motorcycle Accident Closes HWY 26 near Ririe

Jim Allen with the Myrtle Beach Police Department says the accident happened on the Highway 17 Bypass at 2 p.m. Friday. Allen says Thomas Weeks III and his wife Stephanie Weeks were riding a 2006 Boss Hoss motorcycle going northbound when the accident happened. He says Thomas Weeks lost control of the motorcycle, crossed the grass median, and T-boned a Chevrolet TrailBlazer that was traveling southbound. Thomas Weeks, 43, died at the scene, and Stephanie Weeks, 36, died in the hospital Saturday afternoon. Police say they were not wearing helmets. The two people in the SUV were treated for minor injuries and were later released. A close family friend says the couple leaves behind a 4-year-old daughter, Amarynn.

Authorities in Wake County are investigating a motorcycle chase that ended with a crash in Zebulon overnight. Police say 20-year-old Zachary Newton, of Mackay, was traveling east on US Highway 26 on (visit) a 1982 Suzuki motorcycle. An F-350 Ford Pickup Truckpulled onto the highway to travel west. Police say Newton was passing two vehicles in a "no passing zone" when he struck the F-350 in the westbound lane. Newton was transported by air ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. Police said in their report he was not wearing a helmet. His condition is unknown as of this time The road was blocked for over an hour, and traffic was re-routed. This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police, who were assisted by Jefferson County and Bonneville County emergency crews. Copyright 2013 NPG of Idaho .

  1. Does anyone know the follow up to this story? It seems like the biker wasn't obeying traffic laws, but it's awful anytime someone's in a motorcycle accident. I bet lawyers got involved real fast. Hopefully this has a happy ending.
