Two killed after being thrown off motorcycle on I-74

i74more... /> Troopers with Indiana State Police were dispatched to the accident near the 96 mile marker just before midnight. Preliminary investigation revealed two motorcyclists were traveling at a high rate of speed when one of the motorcyclists lost control and crashed. The driver and his female passenger were thrown from the bike and ran over by several other motorists. Police said the motorists that struck the victims stopped at the scene and spoke with investigators. The deceased individuals were identified as Devon Criswell, 41, and Jacquelynn Lewis, 23. Authorities said they were not wearing helmets at the time of the accident.

Man Thrown From Motorcycle in Hudson Crash

Police say the accident happened near the intersection of U.S. 42 and South Fork Road in Verona, Kentucky. Officers say that the rider, 22, was driving his Suzuki motorcycle westbound on U.S. 42 when his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle waiting to turn left. Terry Gibson, 56, was stopped in his Ford Taurus waiting to turn left on eastbound U.S. 42. when he started to turn but stopped when he saw the approaching motorcycle. The cyclist braked hard when he saw the vehicle however he was unable to avoid collision.

Motorcycle Crash Leads To Man's Death

Peter L. Wilkes died at New Milford Hospital at 2:10 p.m., some 30 minutes after he ran off the road. Wilkes was descending a hill on Jerusalem Road, just west of Sunny Valley Road at the time of the accident, police said. Sunny Valley and Jerusalem roads were closed for three hours while the police department's accident reconstruction team investigated. Woman critical after motorcycle crash on Lake Shore Drive

At 1:14 a.m. Sunday, Decatur police responded to a motorcycle accident involving a driver and one passenger near Franklin Street and Lake Shore Drive. Police said the crash occurred shortly after a Macon County Sheriffs deputy attempted to stop the motorcycle as it traveled west on Lake Shore Drive at a high rate of speed. Officers noted that both the motorcycle driver and a female passenger were ejected from the motorcycle as the driver tried to make a turn and drove off the road. The female passenger, whose name has not been released, was airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana with life-threatening injuries. The 22-year-old driver, who remains unnamed at this time, received minor injuries and was booked into the Macon County Jail. The crash is currently under investigation by the Decatur Police Departments Fatal Accident Investigation Team. Preliminary investigation indicated the motorcycle driver was impaired at the time of the accident, Decatur police said in a news release.

Hudson Police responded to the area of #20 Dugout Road for the report of a motorcycle accident Aug. 5 at about 9:30 p.m. Upon arrival to the scene, it was determined a 2005 Kawasawki motorcyle being operated by John Surette, 19, of Hudson, who was traveling west on Dugout Road when he struck a curb and was thrown from the motorcycle. Police said Surette was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was treated at the scene by Hudson Fire Department personnel for a serious knee injury and later transported to the Southern New Hampshire Regional Medical Center. A 17-year-old female passenger was wearing a helmet and was not hurt. This accident is under investigation by Hudson Police patrol personnel.
